Scientific progress focuses on understanding how various actors contribute to economic, social, and environmental value in the pursuit of sustainable development. It is recognized that this field presents challenges and limitations, underscoring the need to adopt diverse approaches to promote the creation of shared value. This approach promotes a shift towards a balanced economy that involves the public, private, and social sectors, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda as an essential framework for sustainable development. Bolivia faces significant challenges in its strategic sectors to contribute to the efforts of all countries in the region and the world to achieve sustainability. A key strategic sector is the hydrocarbon sector, crucial for economic development.
Additionally, food security is undoubtedly a responsibility that concerns the state and society, while maintaining protected ecosystems will contribute to preserving the lives of those who inhabit this country. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of climate change and ongoing armed conflicts have set back the aspirations of meeting the goals set by the 2030 Agenda. These effects disproportionately affect vulnerable sectors, primarily rural communities. This scenario requires strategic entities such as YPFB to have a comprehensive view of economic, social, and environmental development to ensure responsible sustainability. Furthermore, the state must implement measures within its legal framework to guarantee food security and the preservation of rural and urban ecosystems. This study aims to analyze and contribute to the reflection on the role of various actors in creating economic, social, and environmental value to advance sustainable development.
Challenges in this field are acknowledged, emphasizing the importance of diverse approaches that foster shared value creation. The research advocates for a shift towards a balanced economy involving the public, private, and social sectors, with the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda as an essential framework, considering the axes of economic, social, and environmental value. In summary, the key conclusions reached highlight the complexity of balanced economic development, the need to address challenges such as the possibility of new pandemics and climate change, and the importance of the SDGs as a guide for inclusive and sustainable growth. It also emphasizes the urgent need to apply Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) approaches as a response to social responsibility in strategic planning and sustainable development as an essential element for the well-being of society.
