MALARIA: A MULTIDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS FOR INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION
MALARIA: A MULTIDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS FOR INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION

This article examines the challenges of malaria prevention in the Bolivian Amazon, focusing mainly on the communities of Riberalta and Guayaramerín. Despite global efforts, malaria remains a significant public health problem, exacerbated by socioeconomic disparities and cultural factors that affect the efficacy of interventions. This research analyzes local communities' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding malaria and its prevention. The findings reveal widespread awareness of malaria but variable adherence to preventive measures, such as using long-lasting insecticidal nets, influenced by cultural beliefs, community acceptance, and perceptions of efficacy. The study highlights a significant gap between knowledge and practical application, emphasizing the need for educational strategies encompassing local cultural contexts and promoting community participation. By integrating cultural sensitivity and the community's specific needs into health interventions, the article aims to contribute to more effective and sustainable malaria prevention efforts in the Bolivian Amazon.
